As part of a state-wide trial in New South Wales (NSW), Zenith Pharmacy is now able to provide treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) to women aged between 18 and 65 years old.
This pilot program represents a big step towards convenient and efficient access to UTI treatment, while still ensuring that patients are receiving communication with a knowledgeable medical professional.
We are delighted to introduce this service and recognise that patients may have questions regarding the trial. We are offering some clarity and guidance regarding the service, and addressing common questions related to the NSW Pharmacy Trial.
What is involved in the NSW Pharmacy Trial?
As part of the trial, participating pharmacists are now authorised to supply specific treatments for uncomplicated UTIs. Women between 18 to 65 years old who display symptoms consistent with a UTI can seek treatment at a participating pharmacy for without a prescription.
From there, an approved pharmacist can conduct a thorough consultation and, if deemed appropriate, dispense the necessary medication. In short, this process will make it easier for you to access treatment while still preserving the opportunity to engage in a private consultation with a healthcare professional.
