Finacea is a topical gel containing azelaic acid, a naturally occurring acid. Azelaic acid helps the skin to renew itself more quickly and therefore reduces pimple and blackhead formation. It also helps to kill the bacteria that cause acne and rosacea.

Finacea is used to treat mild to moderate rosacea (a skin condition marked by red eruptions, usually on the cheeks and nose.) Finacea may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Ingredients: Azelaic acid 150mg Benzoic acid 1mg contained as preservative

Directions: Use Finacea gel exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Wash your hands before and after applying Finacea gel. Clean the affected area with a mild soap or a soap-free cleansing lotion and pat dry with a soft towel. Apply the medication as directed. Finacea gel is usually applied twice daily, in the morning and at bedtime. Follow your doctor?s instructions.

It may take up 4 weeks or longer before your symptoms improve. Keep using Finacea gel as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 12 weeks of treatment.

Do not cover the affected area after applying Finacea gel. Doing so could cause too much medicine to be absorbed by the body and could be harmful. If you have excessive burning, dryness, or irritation, ask your doctor about using Finacea once daily. Store Finacea gel at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Warnings:Avoid contact with the eyes.
